This year hasn’t gone to plan at all, as is life. There have been both surprise and planned celebrations, unexpected worries, little hiccups along the way providing challenges/hurdles and also impromptu surprise opportunities.
I am Jes. I am 28 years old. British, but have spent most of my adult life abroad. I love watersports, beaches, being warm and working with clients who change the world for good. Hopefully this interview will explain who I am a bit further. Right now, I have 6 crowdfunding campaigns live for my clients. They vary from tech-for-good, sustainable fashion, animal rescue, community development. Other than that I am working on preparing my business, Crowdfund 360 for 2020.
Originally from a rural town outside of Tampa, Florida, there was nothing global, worldly, nor ambitious in my upbringing. By all accounts, my family’s expectations were pretty low and stopped at “go to college.” So I had no pressure to do anything big, and had complete support in everything that has lead me to where I am now. I had been introduced to the art world pretty early on. By the time I was 15, my whole life was centered around being creative. Little did I know that the courses I enrolled in and the pure act of creating was shaping a mind that questioned everything and that quickly saw a flaw in the traditional work/life model.
In my time as a freelancer I have taught English both in UK and Japan then online, set up my own Virtual Assistance business, worked as a freelance executive assistant, took a remote role as a project manager and have just pressed pause to become crew on a sailboat with my other half, a skipper and journalist.
Having the freedom to work whenever and wherever you want… is often also code for carrying your laptop everywhere just in case you need to send a sneaky email on the go or so you can complete actions on the move wherever there is WiFi! Sometimes along the way on days out or even on evenings and weekends. 🤓
This week we speak to multi-hyphenate Zoe Sofair of Virtually Zoe. Zoe is a Virtual Assistant, but also host pub quizzes, am a glitter and UV artist, set up a decluttering and organising business and do occasional event management. In between all of this she is also Community Manager for the London Chapter of Girl Gone International, a worldwide community of 250,000+ international women that was founded in 2010 and now with local communities in over 150 cities.
