🌍 Does your work matter to you & the world? Image and caption from @escthecity ❤️ - Dan Pink writes some extremely interesting analysis on the psychology of work in his book ‘Drive - the Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us’. We consider it recommended reading for anyone interested in understanding the drivers behind job (dis)satisfaction. In the book he highlights three crucial ingredients for fulfilling work: 1️⃣ Autonomy - the desire to direct your own life 2️⃣ Mastery - the urge to get better and better at something that matters to you 3️⃣ Purpose - the yearning to do what you do in the service of something larger than yourself Take a moment to reflect on whether your current job matters to you and the world. Is it any wonder you’re unfulfilled if it doesn’t allow you any of them?
MONDAY MICRO COACHING from @thestepupclub right here! — I want to start the week with a little Step Up Club takeaway from our most recent live coaching call with the brilliant @juliafranckh . Feeling confident and able are biggies, right? So how do you cope when you find yourself stuck work-wise, somewhere you feel completely out of your depth? . Well here’s a nifty little coaching model that should help you improve your mindset when it comes to taking career or business risks. . 💚Let’s start in the green space: your Comfort Zone. This is the place where you function pretty much on autopilot. You’re somewhere very familiar (say, working on a usual project, or meeting a trusted client) and you don’t need to think twice about doing a great job💚. . 💛Now let’s move out one circle, into your Stretch Zone. Here you are somewhere full of novelty, exploration and adventure. This isn’t necessarily a comfortable place, but it isn’t too dissimilar to parts of your Comfort Zone and it’s stimulating and familiar enough to offer a challenge that feels surmountable💛. . 🧡But what about your Panic Zone?! This is somewhere you feel totally out of control, perhaps is presenting to a full room of delegates, or asking for investment from someone you’ve never met before. The panic sets in, you shutdown and the risk feels too large to grab and try. But being in your Panic Zone, however hard it feels, is necessary to progression. So how do we cope? Well you look for similarities in your Comfort and Stretch zones. On the coaching call, one member said her Panic was recording Insta stories. We worked back through similar experiences that she’d classify as Comfort or Stretch (engaging in a FaceTime call, recording herself for a WhatsApp message) and then applying these familiar experiences with the Panic Stories situation. 🧡 . The moral of this coaching story is rather than relinquishing to the Panic, learn to find patterns or situations that somehow echo your challenge. The more we do this, the more comfortable we become in doing this, the better we become at taking work risks. And you need to take risks if you’re going to progress. #MondayCoaching #femaleentrepreneur

Repost via @gobehere, we couldn’t agree more! — Do you find yourself just going through the motions, day in day out? — Looking to break out of a habit lifestyle? Focusing on living with intention and doing things because they make you happy is a great place to start. — For us, that means visiting new places and really experiencing them. Getting to know a city, it’s neighborhood, it’s people. ☺️ — Having a neighborhood coffee spot, picking up some of the local language, connecting with a community at a coworking space - these are the things that help us feel more grounded in a new city. — What other things help you?!👇 #gobehere Image by @causebox
This morning’s scrumptious, hearty post-yoga mid-week #veganbreakfast fuel! We’re wrapping up a few things and preparing for transit days. It’s almost time for us to leave Thailand!! 😮🙃 We’ve come to enjoy having a couple of days each week for breakfast and #remoteworking from this cafe after yoga. Who knew retreat centres were a great spot to get stuff done?? Have you found any expected spots that were surprisingly great to work from? #workanywhere
You get what you pay for! And ultimately it’ll save you money in the long run because chances are if you go for the less experienced option you’ll end up paying more afterwards for extra work on it. - Do you agree? - Pay freelancers what their worth! - “Don’t choose a freelancer based solely on price. Sure, you may find a designer willing to build your Web site for half the price of a more experienced person, but odds are the finished project will also be noticeably less professional." via @entrepreneur - Expect to pay more for more experience and in-demand skills. The skills and level of experience your project requires will largely dictate how much you’ll pay the freelancer with the right expertise. The more senior and niche a freelancer’s skills, the narrower the pool of talent, which allows them to command higher rates. ~ @muses - #freelancing #musesapp #createdtocreate
We’re excited to have interviewed Emilie Giles (@me_backwards), a Ph.D. student at The Open University exploring how e-textiles can be used as interactive tools for the blind and visually impaired. Her portfolio of work over the years spans creative technology, crafting and pervasive gaming – including much experience in teaching people how to build their own creative technology projects and teaching physical computing with e-textiles. Thanks so much, Em, for sharing with us and Project Anywhere telling us about your portfolio of adventures from the edge of London to everywhere! (Link in bio! Resharing from @jaynehardy_: When we look around us, it's easy to believe that everybody around us feeling tip-top happy. It's what we see and it's what they want us to see but the thing to bear in mind is that there's so much that we don't see. We're not privy to the gut-wrenching shower-cries, the crumbling, the hiding beneath a duvet-ing, the sleepless nights, the ball of worry someone carries, the fear of not being able to pay the bills, any of it. What we do see are people when they feel strong enough to be seen - not the falling apart bit. Which is why it's so important to check-in, even with those who seem bouncy, full of life, nailing their goals and are a riot to be around. Even those who seem supported from where we stand, looking in. Even those who say life is great and are much more interested in hearing about your day. Even those who can chat the hind legs off a donkey. Even those who sound full of beans. Even those who look blissfully in love. There's an often-repeated rhetoric about reaching-out and it's an important message but it's also often easier said than done. Reaching-in though, there's something completely under-valued in that; in the olive branch, the hand reaching in, receiving thoughtful words, being swarmed with kindness from an out of the blue text or letter, the offer of help and support. Check-in with everyone you care about, open the door for the 'realness', let them know you care and that you're there. It makes a world of difference in easing the stuff that goes on beneath the mask to know that someone, somewhere, loves you, thinks about you and 'sees' you, no matter what. Everyone struggles with unplugging from work from time to time, especially when it gets really busy. As a remote worker, however, your work is often your life: not only in the sense that you often work where you live, but also because the lines between your work and your personal life can easily become blurred. Here are some things to keep in mind if you want to increase productivity during your work day and recharge your mind once it ends. https://projectanywhere.co/2019/11/21/how-to-unplug-from-work-as-a-freelancer/ See the full post on our website in link in our bio. What are your own top tips on unplugging, recharging and staying refreshed? #freelancing #workingremotely #todaysoffice #unpluggingfromwork

It’s never too late! This year and DECADE isn’t over until it’s over. Just keep going!! What else can you do in these 7 weeks?? 👏👏👏 • Motivating, inspiring wise words from @weareauburn_uk here!!: Sorry about that, we didn't mean to scare you, especially on a Monday. But we did want to shock you so that you realised just how close we are until the end of the year. The end of the decade. • It's not too late, it's never too late. So what if you don't achieve a goal, ambition, dream by December 31st. Just keep going until you do. Don’t let the fear of taking action or a lack of confidence to actually do put one foot in front of the other and go hold you back. • #weareauburn #confidencecomesfromwithin #bestself #confidence #selfconfidence #selflove #selfcare #fear #motivation #empowerment #femaleempowerment #women #womenempowerment
