Your first step is to decide what your top priorities are and what needs to be done. Then work out what really can only be completed by you and what can be delegated, outsourced or put on hold. Review your daily processes too. What works well and what doesn’t work well? Now we can start looking at how you can automate and streamline your business.

Make full use of online tools for planning, tracking, communications, and setting reminders. Take the manual ‘thinking’ away by letting an online tool do the thinking for you. There are many tools available out there to help you automate almost everything. Look at your sales, onboarding or customer support processes. Are there any parts of these that can be automated with an existing online tool to make it all simpler, faster or even automatically running behind-the-scenes?
- Streamline with clear business systems and simple processes
Rest assured that you and your team will never miss a step or go off-course by clearly documenting how things are done and setting up simple processes. This will also make any future handovers or new team member training a breeze because you’ll have a handy reference guide to use. These can be fluid, working documents that you and your team can edit as your team grows and you keep improving your processes.
- Delegate or outsource day-to-day tasks
You cannot do everything yourself if you really want your business to grow or improve. As a business owner, you will already have too much on your plate and not enough hours in any day to do it all yourself. It can also be more beneficial for your business to bring in an expert to deliver certain tasks instead.
- Put non-urgent things on hold
As well as deciding what tasks can be delegated or outsourced, it is a good idea to review your priorities to highlight any work that is not urgent or important right now. Log these requirements (in your new digital planning tool!) so they do not slip through the net and come back to these later.
- Take a deep breath and tackle it one piece at a time
Block out time to get yourself started and make sure you do get started. It will be worth it so much in the end. You don’t have to put pressure on yourself to get all of this done at once. Make a clear plan and work through it all piece by piece.
